Alcohol Drug Testing
An Alcohol Drug Test determines the level of ethanol, an ingredient in alcohol, in the blood, hair or urine of a person. An alcohol drug test is used to determine the level of intoxication and if alcohol factors in on the disorientation, consciousness, or illness. It's often used by the police for legal purposes, but companies may also choose to have their employees tested. For the most part, alcohol testing is not invasive and painless. Generally, there are several types of tests to determine alcohol in your system.Breath
The most common form of alcohol testing is the breathalyzer or Evidential Breath Test (EBT). It determines the level of alcohol from the percentage in your breath. A person just breathes into the breathalyzer and the level of alcohol is immediately available. It's the most common form of alcohol testing done by the police and other law enforcement. FAEE is the sum of ethyl myristate, ethyl palmitate, ethyl oleate and ethyl stearateIt in the hair. These are deposited during hair growth as a byproduct of alcohol in the bloodstream. Ethyl glucuronide markers are indicators that alcohol has been consumed. Ethyl glucuronide is produced in the liver after alcohol consumption and absorbed into the hair through body sweat. The hair is exposed and ethyl glucoronide markers are left on the hair. Newly grown hair works best for this test. About an inch and half is needed for accurate testing. Three months of alcohol or non-alcohol use is shown in the results. This test is recently under scrutiny, because some forms of hair products may also leave trace amounts of the above mentioned by products the hair and beaching of the hair can affect the test. This could possibility lead to false positives or negatives. EtG testing may used separately or in conjunction with FAEE.
Alcohol drug testing is used by companies in human resource issues, during child custody battles, the police in DUI cases and medical professionals determine the mental competency of a person. All forms of alcohol drug testing are non-invasive and have no long term effects on the person tested.
